Learning science, the way it should be learnt: Hands on!

I hear and I forget.
I see and I remember.
I do and I understand.

It is a widely accepted fact that ‘learning by doing’ is more effective than ‘learning by hearing’ or ‘learning by seeing’. Yet, many schools lack the infrastructure to provide experiential learning. ILM Foundation is trying to fill this gap, especially in the teaching and learning of science.

The foundation aims is to help students connect classroom learning to real world situations. Their science kits have led students on the path of critical thinking, discovery, confidence, and an interest in STEM; crucial tools that can set the foundation for future academic and career success.

So far, they have provided science kits to carefully selected schools across 8 states and trained 4,000+ teachers across Telangana in experiential science teaching. These kits help students perform experiments in the EVS and Math (Primary School) and Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Middle School and Secondary School).

This year, they hope to provide basic scientific resource kits to 1000 students studying in grades 8-10. Each kit can be utilized by 5 students who will perform the experiments in small groups to explore the given scientific concept. This method of teaching-learning will ensure that students experience:

What does the science kit includes?

Each kit includes the following

  • Required apparatus, chemicals, and instruments that help teachers teach scientific concepts practically.
  • Curriculum aligned material.
  • Teacher’s manual for quick and accurate reference.

Apart from this, ILM also provides free 2 -day training to the teachers on how to use the kit.

ILM is looking for donors to sponsor 200 kits to benefit more schools and students. Your contribution can make a huge difference in the way students perceive and understand science.
